To obtain the first order trans → cis cycloheptene isomerization barrier by blocking the bimolecular mechanism, we have synthesized a series of geminally substituted cis-cycloheptenes. Their room temperature stable trans isomers could be generated by photosensitization. The decay research was performed on these trans isomers.
