| Cardiolipin plays an important role in many biological processes as well as in many areas of biochemical and biomedical studies. The use of cardiolipin in liposome based formulations was found to be a valuable tool to deliver drugs to improve their therapeutic applications. Our NeoLipidTM technology combines drugs with proprietary lipids, such as cardiolipin, to allow the active drugs to be delivered to the tumor cells. This stimulates us to develop a practical synthetic route to produce large quantities of cardiolipin for liposomal drug delivery. We have established a convenient and efficient method to synthesize cardiolipin via dichlorophosphate approach. The method is also capable to apply in the synthesis of various cardiolipin variants with or without unsaturatation. The details of the synthetic chemistry will be presented. |
