| Boronic acids have been known for their strong interactions with diol-containing compounds. Our group has recently reported a diboronic acid fluorescent sensor that showed specific binding for glucose. Aimed at further improving the binding affinity and specificity, we have synthesized several analogs with different substitution patterns on the phenylboronic acid moiety. These substitutions are designed to fine-tune the affinity of the boronic acid moiety for diols and the conformational features of the sensor. The fluorescence profile and binding affinities of these compounds will be presented.
