| Grignard addition to N-alkylquinoxalium iodide 1 was thoroughly investigated. Depending on the ratio of Grignard reagent to the quinoxalium salt, either disubstituted dihydroquinoxalines 2 or/and trisubstituted tetrahydroquinoxalines 3 were obtained. The available dihydroquinoxalines were easily reduced to the corresponding disubstituted tetrahydroquinoxalines 4 in excellent yield. Thus, the synthetic method hereby provided a convenient access to the titled compounds. |
