Calix[4]arene based nanotubes were synthesized for entrapment and conversion of NO2/N2O4 gases. Stable nitrosonium complexes were obtained and their host-guest chemistry was studied. Potential applications of synthetic nanotubes for NOx storage and conversion will be discussed. Their use in preparative organic chemistry will be presented.
