| The structure of 1,4-naphthoquinone is found extensively distributed in nature. It has been found that a great variety of compounds derived from this structure have biological activity. In this paper we present the synthesis of several 2-[(chlorophenyl)amine]-1,4-naphthalenediones (Cl-PAN) using Lewis acids as catalysts (ZnCl2, AlCl3, and CeCl3), found very high yields. Moreover, we report the synthesis of other R-PAN derivatives that exhibit antibacterial and analgesic activity. An experimental procedure to prepare these compounds is presented. Products are characterized by UV-VIS, IR and NMR spectroscopy. |
