The complex [Zn(TPA)(H2O)]2+ bears similarity to the coordination environment found in some mononuclear zinc proteases. Some years ago, we prepared the ligand TPPA in an effort to study ligand exchange processes in sterically-hindered environments.  However, zinc and other metal complexes of TPPA were poorly soluble in most solvents, especially water.  Compound 1 has now been prepared and found to be soluble in both organic and aqueous media.  This poster will describe the synthesis of 1 and related compounds, as well as preliminary characterization of the ligands and various Zn(II) complexes.
