N-Heterocyclic carbenes have found effective use in Pd-catalyzed C-C and C-N bond forming reactions among simpler systems. However, their applicability for similar transformations among the more complex systems such as nucleosides has not been evaluated to date. This study focuses on the comparison of imidazolium as well as dihydroimidazolium based complexes to phosphine based ones for Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling.
