Electrochemistry applied to organic chemistry

ORGN 480

R. Daniel Little, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, UC Santa Barbara (UCSB), Santa Barbara, CA 93106
This presentation will focus upon the efforts of others as well as research emanating from this laboratory. Attention will center upon the use of electrochemistry as a simple tool that can readily be applied to solving some problems in organic chemistry. The information that is made available through the use of simple voltammetric techniques can also be of much value in providing mechanistic insights. Examples illustrating the application of electrochemistry to total synthesis, and of the use of voltammetric data in the design of new redox agents will be provided.
