The synthesis of an advanced intermediate in the garsubellin class of compounds will be described. In the key event an allene-nitrile oxide cycloaddition delivers the bicyclicc core and reductive cleavage of the resulting isoxazoline using raney Ni/H2 generates the acylated phloroglucinol ring system.
