As part of a collaborative study of cellular efflux of cholesterol and phospholipids, and their assembly into HDL particles, photoactivable analogs of phosphatidylcholine were required. Synthesis of the benzophenone-containing ester- and ether-linked analogs 1 and 2, and development of methods for their radiolabeling, will be described.
