New synthetic methods and studies on the mechanism of these methods will be presented. Focus will be placed upon transition metal-catalyzed reactions that generate new carbon-nitrogen and carbon-oxygen bonds at either alkyl or aromatic positions. These reactions include metal-catalyzed aromatic and allylic substitution processes, as well as olefin hydroamination.
